Caution

• Instructions should be read and followed carefully.

• Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves, and eye/face protection while handling.

• Do not use the sample preservation medium for pre-moistening or pre-wetting the applicator swab prior to collecting the sample or for rinsing or irrigating the sampling sites.

• Disposable device, do not reuse.

• Do not touch the applicator in the area below the breakpoint indication line.

• Do not use if the swab is visibly damaged.

• Wash hands thoroughly after handling.

Protocol

Step 1:Peel the package.

Step 2:Collection of the sample:

• To collect a nasopharyngeal sample:

Tilt patienfs head back 70 degrees. Gently and slowly insert the swab through the nostril parallel to the palate (not upwards) until resistance is encountered or the distance is equivalent to that from the ear to the nostril of the patient, indicating contact with the nasopharynx. Gently rub and roll the swab and slowly withdraw while rotating it.

• To collect a oropharyngeal/throat sample:

Insert swab into the posterior pharynx and tonsillar areas. Rub swab over both tonsillar pillars and posterior oropharynx and avoid touching the tongue, teeth, and gums. Stop for several second to absorb secretions and then slowly remove swab while rotating it.

• To collect a anterior nasal sample:

Insert the entire collection tip of the swab provided (usually%to%of an inch, or 1 to 1.5 cm) inside the nostril. Firmly sample the nasal wall by rotating the swab in a circular path against the nasal wall at least 4 times. Take approximately 15 seconds to collect the specimen. Be sure to collect any nasal drainage that may be present on the swab. Repeat in the other nostril using the same swab and withdraw the swab.

• To collect a oral sample：

Hold the stick and gently insert the swab into the oral cavity, rotate about 5 times to ensure sufficient sample collection and withdraw.

Step 3:Quickly put the swab into the tube. Break the sampling swab at the breakingpoint, discard the handle end and tighten the pipe cover.
